Weekly Must-Have: The One by Frederic Fekkai Shampoo & Conditioner
About 15 years ago, Frederic Fekkai was my first foray into luxury beauty. My hair has always been unruly at best, so while my fellow teenagers were saving their babysitting money for Mac Lipglass, I always saved up for Fekkai shampoos and conditioners to tame my frizz and impart a delicious smell. Over the years, I moved on to different brands and sort of lost track of Fekkai. That all changed when they recently launched The One line.
Many of their tried and true classics are still available, but what peaked my interest with this launch was The Brilliant One Color Shampoo and Conditioner. After one use, my teenage love affair with Mr. Fekkai was reborn. This duo is my new favorite sulfate-free, paraben-free cleansing combination for my single-processed, highlighted, and keratin coated locks.
The shampoo is my ideal formula: it has a great lather despite the lack of sulfates, and deep cleans without stripping my strands. I panic when a shampoo gives my hair that squeaky-clean straw feeling, but also despise low-foam formulas that weigh down my hair and are next-to-useless after a sweaty workout. There isn’t a hint of either issue with this product. The conditioner, like any good one, moisturizes without adding grease. It also makes hair seriously shiny.
In terms of ingredients, I love that these formulas rely on red sea algae to slow down color fading and increase vibrancy. They also feature technology to help protect against pollution and UV rays, both things that wreak havoc on hair color.
It would be irresponsible to talk about these products without addressing the packaging. They’re luxe and beautiful, and really elevate my studio apartment’s tiny white bathtub. You’ll be inclined to leave your shower curtain open next time you have guests over simply to show these off.
