Weekly Must-Have: Revlon Oval One-Step Hair Dryer & Volumizing Styler
Few things make me feel more attractive than a classic, bouncy blowout. I literally feel like a new person when I walk out of the doors of my preferred blowout bar (DreamDry for New Yorkers, FYI). Unfortunately, however, I am completely and utterly inept at styling my own hair.
When a professional does my hair, I ask for a “princess blowout” a la Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle. I love a good amount of volume while still keeping it smooth, and a bouncy finish at the end. But when I do my own hair, I generally let it air dry about 75% of the way through and then just flip my head over to get any remaining moisture out in record time with my Dyson.
This all changed when I got my hands on the Revlon Oval One-Step Hair Dryer & Volumizing Styler. I was pretty skeptical at first, because the Dyson dryer truly is all that it’s cracked up to be (and more) in terms of speed and efficiency with minimal damage. That being said, for someone with no styling skills, it won’t solve that problem. On the contrary, the Revlon dryer is completely idiot-proof. And the price cannot be beat.
I still follow my normal routine of allowing my hair to air dry the majority of the way after washing. I then divide my hair into a bunch of sections with these clips (you’ll only need a few sections if your hair is shorter or less thick). This styler gets very hot, so I prefer to use the medium heat setting. With the same motion you would use with a round brush and a dryer, I dry section by section, holding for a few extra seconds at the ends for that covetable princess curl.
Since I’ve started using this, I’ve been asked on multiple instances what the occasion for a professional blowout was. But it was all me!
