Weekly Must-Have: Luma Hair Straightening 3D Ceramic Brush

I’ve found the secret to fast, easy pin-straight hair…and I’m willing to share it with you! It’s the Luma Hair Straightening 3D Ceramic Brush ($70) — and I’m obsessed with the results. Like salon blown-out hair without a blow dryer.

Anyone who knows me knows that I’m pretty fuss-free when it comes to my mane. I’m a wash-and-go kind of girl. I like the beachy, bed head, messy look — and, luckily that takes no time at all. But sometimes I want salon styled straight strands — and I have no idea how to blow out my own hair (it’s true, I’m awful). My hair is naturally textured/ wavy, so flat irons don’t really do the trick. For years, I used the Conair Ion Shine Styler ($16) (I still use and love this, btw. It’s perfect to blow out my face fringe), which is the closest thing to a blowdryer/brush hybrid that I had been able to find. Until now…

The Luma Hair Straightening 3D Ceramic Brush is legit a brush — that heats up. It takes my wavy, textured strands and turns them into sleek and straight in seconds — literally 20 seconds for each section. The trick is to use it on already dried hair (I let my hair air dry but you could definitely dry it with a blow dryer if you prefer). You’ll also want to take small enough sections so that all of your hair fits into the crevices of the brush – this is how it straightens. And it’s not a poofy-voluminous effect, so if you’re looking for that, stick to your blow dryer and brushes. This is a sleek, Kim K.-straight look, kind of like a hybrid between a blow dryer and a flat iron but in one tool. The other bonus to the Luma is that you can easily use it for a touch-up. So, I’ll straighten my hair with it on a Monday but then wake up on a Tuesday and go over my locks with the Luma… and it looks like I just spent 30 minutes blowing and flat ironing my hair.

The company explains that the “brush straightens your hair with every stroke, not just the top and bottom layers of each section you straighter like a flat iron does – so there’s no need to keep going over the same sections of hair again.” It’s true! It really does. Instead of taking 20 or 30 minutes, Luma promises straight strands in two to three minutes.

Just think about all of that extra time you’ll have in the morning to apply a cat eye or contour…
