The Review: Mary Phillips x Nudestix Jetsetter Palette Set

Makeup artist Mary Phillips is responsible for some of my favorite celeb looks: from Bella Hadid to Chrissy Teigen to Emily Ratajkowski to Kendall Jenner, she’s basically got a lockdown on hot, sexy-girl makeup vibes. So when Nudestix partnered with Mary for the Jetsetter Palette Set, I knew I had to try it.

The set comes with four Magnetic Eye Color crayons in bronzed and brown shades that easily apply to eyes and seamlessly blend to create anything from a wash of color to a sultry, smokey eye, two Gel Color Lip + Cheek Balm crayons that can – as the name suggests – be used on lips or cheeks. These rosy shades add a beautiful hint of color while still giving a natural “you-but-better” look. One of them reads more nude, while the other reads more berry-but-sheer. Also included in this 7-piece, limited-edition set is the Nudies All-Over Face Color Matte stick with an applicator on the opposite end. In all honesty, I didn’t try this (not sure if I lost it or it just didn’t come with my press sample), but Nudestix says to use it as an all-over face color for a dewy base, focusing on eyes and cheekbones. You also get this really cool tin can to store your Nudestix sticks, a sharpener, and a leather makeup bag signed by Mary Phillips. (*color swatches available in the slideshow above.)

I’ve been playing around with the eye and lip and cheek sticks for a few weeks, and I absolutely love the formulas. The shadows are shimmery and blendable, but then they really stay put. I use the darker two on my lash line and blend out for a bit of smokiness, and by night’s end, it’s all still there. Nothing’s moved! I adore the metallic bronzed shades — I’ve even worn those solo for a wash of lid color, finishing with some mascara and a nude lip for a more chill vibe. The lip and cheek balms are universally flattering and have a pinkish undertone. They work really well as cheek tints, offering up the perfect amount of flush. And when you use the same lip and cheek color, you actually tie the entire look together. If you want a darker, more dramatic lip, just swap it out for a berry or red matte shade. I left the best for last: you can blend everything with your fingers — no brushes necessary! It’s like adult finger-painting, and it makes application so much simpler.

Bottom line: this set delivers on pretty, simple, and sexy color for the face. It’s the next best thing to having Mary Phillips actually do your makeup (if we were all so lucky — sigh).
