The Hair Trends That’ll Dominate Spring 2017

Besides booking an epic spring vacay, the official end of winter really calls for some fresh tresses. Warmer weather and longer days demand hair that gets noticed—and is easy to pull off. A cool dye job or brand new cut is enough to transform our look. For the commitment-phobe and color-virgin, simply trying a new hair style can make a serious difference.

We took a cue from Hollywood’s it-girls for the hair trends we’re sure to see everywhere come spring break.

Rose Gold Hair

Colored hair is not just for teens, or festivals. Gigi Hadid made a case for rose gold hair back in January, and we’ve been seeing every variation of pink locks on celebs ever since. Lady Gaga donned some pink highlights at the Grammys, and Hailey Baldwin and Bella Hadid have stepped out in pink hair too. We loved Gigi’s rose gold mane, it’s fun and totally wearable, even to our 9-to-5’s. Book an appointment with a good stylist, as this trend requires some TLC…and LOTS of bleach if going for the pink panther shade. If you must DIY, choose a semi-permanent dye, like Punky Colour Semi-Permanent Conditioning Hair Color ($6), that simply adds color to hair and washes out in days. And for those that want to try the trend without the commitment, color chalk is a fun way to rock flirty pink locks.

The New Lob

As seen on Kendall Jenner and #BeautyCrush Margot Robbie, mid-length cuts are in! Long hair will never go out of style, but for a fresh look this spring, shoulder-grazing textured waves seem to be all the rage. Chrissy Teigen is nailing the trend and other celebs are following suit, like Emma Stone and Cara Delevingne, who just chopped her locks (and went platinum). Shorter styles frame the face, putting the focus where it needs to be, and are easier to style and manage. Don’t forget to use a good hair mask once a week to keep hair gorge.

Long Fringe

Cool girls are calling it “Bardot Bangs,” as in quintessential French babe Bridgette Bardot, and they’re just as chic. Long bangs, like the ones we spotted on Felicity Jones and Selena Gomez, definitely up the drama and add sex appeal. And since they’re meant to appear grown-out, you won’t have to sit through the awkward “I’m growing out my bangs” phase. Anyone can pull off bangs, as long as they flatter your face shape. A consult with your hair stylist will determine the best bangs for your buck (pun intended). Many a hair stylists agree, keep up with regular hair trims to keep this style fresh and on-point.
