Girl Crush: Nikki Reed

By | celebrity looks | 4 Comments

I’m going to be honest, I always thought Nikki Reed was hot, but I never thought she was pretty until seeing this picture (yes, hot and pretty are two very different things). The Twilight actress looks stunning at the Teen Vogue Party. I’m OBSESSED with her hair color – the honey-hued highlights are to die and compliment her skintone so perfectly. Not to mention the makeup which is so effortless ans subtle but still seductive and alluring.

Deets on the makeup by mark’s Mai Quynh:

Face: “To create Nikki’s flawless-looking skin, I began by applying mark Face Xpert Flawless Touch Makeup in Honey with the mark Foundation Brush. I then used mark Good Riddance Hook Up Concealer in Light/Medium under her eyes and around her nose to completely even out her complexion. To create a beautiful rosy glow on the apples of the cheeks, I brushed on mark Just Pinched Instant Blush Tint in Peachy, followed by mark Bronze Pro Bronzing Powder in Bronze with the mark Angled Contour Face Brush. To set the look, I dusted mark Matte-nificent Oil-Absorbing Powder in Honey/Golden to her T-zone area with the mark Kabuki Brush.”

Eyes: “I really wanted to highlight Nikki’s gorgeous brown eyes and make them pop. I first prepped her eyelids with mark Please Hold Eye Primer in Light/Medium to ensure her makeup remained fresh and smear-proof throughout the event. Next, I applied mark I-Mark Custom Pick Eyeshadow in Biscotti to her inner eyelid, as a highlighter, using the mark Hook Up Eyeshadow Brush. I used the same brush to smudge mark I-Mark Custom Pick Eyeshadow in Java along the top lash line and Tiki to the lid and along the bottom lashes. I used the mark Angled Contour Eye Shadow Brush to soften the shadow upwards and into the crease. I finished off the look by rimming her inner lids with mark No Place to Run Longwear Eyeliner in Foxy Brown and applying two coats of mark Make It Big Lash Plumping Mascara in Raven to her lashes.”

Lips: “For her lips, I applied a mix of mark Lots of Lacquer Hook Up Super Color Lip Gloss in Thrill and mark Pro Gloss Hook Up Plumping Lip Shine in Swell to create a natural-looking, subtle shine.”

All this Class and on a budget… loves it!

Get The Look: Kristen Bell

By | celebrity looks | 2 Comments

Star of “You Again,” Kristen Bell, has never looked better. Her strands are the perfect shade of blonde (not that over-bleached, bottle blonde look), her face is made-up but still youthful and this hair style gives her red carpet romanticism.

Celebrity Makeup Artist Mai Quynh is responsible for the face. Here are the deets:

INSPIRATION: “Kristen was wearing a stunning yellow and white laced dress by Valentino, so I wanted to give her bold smoky eyes and subtle nude lips to compliment it.”

Face: “I started by applying mark See Things Clearly Brightening Moisturizer to her face, followed by mark Face Xpert Flawless Touch Makeup in Natural with the mark Foundation Brush for a gorgeous smooth finish. To even out any flaws and create a completely even canvas, I applied mark Good Riddance Hook Up Concealer in Light/Medium around her nose and under her eyes. I set her foundation with mark Powder Buff Natural Skin Foundation in Natural. After the powder had set the foundation, I dusted mark Bronze Pro Bronzing Powder in Pro Golden to her cheeks, chin and forehead, using the mark Blush Brush. For a natural looking blush, I dusted mark Good Glowing Custom Pick Powder Blush in After Glo using the mark Angled Contour Face Brush to her cheeks.”

Eyes: “To create Kristen’s smoky eye, I used several shades from the mark On The Dot Eye Color Compact. Using the mark Hook Up Eyeshadow Brush, I applied the cream colored shade to her inner eyelid for a highlighting effect and swept the bronze shade to the middle of her eyelid, blending outwards with the same brush. Next, I applied the dark brown shade to the outer corners of her eyes and blended into the crease and upwards towards the brow bone using the mark Hook Up Angled Eyeshadow Brush. I then smudged the same dark brown color underneath and along her lower lashes using the mark Flat Eyeliner Brush. I finished off the look with two coats of mark Scanda-Lash Hook Up Mascara in Blacklash.”

Lips: “To keep Kristen’s lips looking neutral and dewy, I used mark Lipclick Full Color Lipstick in Bare Hug.”

Frédéric Fekkai’s Ange Grmoyles tended to the tresses.

INSPIRATION: An imperfect yet romantic style.

GET THE LOOK: Ange started by spraying Fekkai Advanced Full Blown Volume™ Lifting Hairspray to the roots of the hair and rough dried it with her fingers. She then wrapped sections of hair around a one inch curling iron, leaving the ends straight. Next Ange applied the Fekkai Au Naturel Dry Shampoo to the crown of her head and teased the hair before pinning the half up-do in place. To shape the face, Ange left her bangs creating a romantic style. To secure the look, she then applied Fekkai Coiff™ Sheer Hold Hairspray for all night hold.

GIRL CRUSH: Ashley Greene at the VMA’s

By | celebrity looks | 2 Comments

mark Brand Ambassador and vampire sexiness, Ashley Greene showed off her human hotness at the MTV VMA’s. Makeup Artist Vanessa Scali created the look. This is an easy and affordable face that anyone can recreate. I’m loving the sultry eye with the nude lips and perfectly coiffed honey highlights. So chic.

Here are the deets:

“I wanted to create a smoldering, gunmetal eye with only a hint of color in the cheeks, and a soft natural mouth.”

”Ashley has nearly flawless skin, so I used foundation and concealer sparingly. First, I used the mark Foundation Brush to apply mark Speedway Do Everything Makeup in Natural only where needed and blended in with my fingers. I find that using my fingers to blend foundation heats the product just a bit and leaves a seamless finish. Next, I applied mark Good Riddance Hook Up Concealer in Medium/Deep under her eyes, followed by a light dusting of mark Matte-nificent Oil Absorbing Powder in Buff/Natural to her t-zone area. For her cheeks, I applied mark Just Pinched Instant Blush Tint in Cheeky to the apples, blending outward toward the cheekbones. Then, to accentuate her high cheekbones, I applied mark Get Bright Hook Up Highlighter in Natural and blended in toward the apples of her cheeks. The combination of the creamy textures and hint of color blend to make the cheeks look pretty and luminous.”

“First, I applied mark I-mark Custom Pick Eyeshadow in Corset to her lid, blending just over the natural crease and extending outward to elongate her eyes. I used the same color under her bottom lashes for a soft smoky effect. For a kick of shine, I added a touch of mark Get Bright Hook Up Highlighter in Natural to her brow bone. Eye liner is truly the key to this look – it adds a depth of color and edge that make this eye look sexy. For Ashley’s eyes, I lined her top and bottom lids with mark No Place to Run Longwear Eyeliner in Jet Set. I focused on making the top line heavier and blended into the shadow, while blending the bottom line with the mark Flat Eyeliner Brush to smooth underneath her bottom lashes. The final touch was lining the inside rim of the eye. I love a full, feathery lash so I finished with a double coat of mark Scanda-Lash Hook Up Mascara in Blacklash.”

“To keep Ashley’s lips looking gorgeous and natural, I applied mark Lipclick Full Color Lipstick in Bare Hug.”

A fresh and clean summer look.

Olivia Wilde rocked it at the FOX 2010 All-Star Party this week. mark celebrity makeup artist Jamie Greenberg gives us the red-carpet deets:

“I started by moisturizing Olivia’s face with mark See Things Clearly Brightening Moisturizer to get an even base. I then applied mark Get a Tint Tinted Moisturizer Lotion in Ivory/Nude to add some subtle color without using a heavy foundation. Next, I used mark Get Bright Hook Up Highlighter under her eyes to hide any dark circles and mark Cheat Sheet Shine-Blotters to eliminate shine. I finished off her face by highlighting her gorgeous cheek bones with mark Glow Xpert Face Shimmer in Champagne Glow and just a hint of color by blending mark Just Pinched Instant Blush Tint in Peachy and Spice onto the apples of her cheeks.”

“For her eyes, I blended mark Eyemarker Color On Line in Jet into the lash line, smudging it upwards over the lid as an eyeshadow base. I then used shades from the mark It Kit (available in February) including mark Ruffle and Latte in the crease and along the lower lash line to make her eyes really pop. Finally I coated her lashes with two coats of mark Lash Splash Hook Up Waterproof Mascara in Black.”

“For her lips I used mark Dew Drenched Moisturlicious Lip Color in Skinny Dip and finished off the look with two refreshing pumps of mark Mist Opportunity Multi-tasking Refresher.”

How To: Lauren Conrad

LC wrote a new book. Sigh. But she’s on a book tour and debuting some pretty gorge faces… yay!

Amy Nadine of mark cosmetics (Lauren’s go-to beauty line) explains how she created Lauren’s glowing summer look:

“For Lauren’s fresh look, I swept mark I-Glimmer Illuminating Eye Color in Polished across her entire eye lid, then lined her top lash line with mark On the Edge Hook-Up Liquid Liner in Cleo and finished by coating her lashes in mark Scanda-Lash Hook-Up Mascara in Blacklash.”

“Lauren and I wanted to create a look that was still her signature style with even more sophistication as an author. We applied mark Get A Tint Tinted Moisturizer Lotion in Buff/Natural and highlighted under her eyes and above her cheekbones with mark Get Bright Hook Up Highlighter in Light/Medium. To create her California glow, I used mark Bronze Pro Bronzing Powder in Pro Glow under her cheekbones, temples, along her hairline and under her jawline, then dusted the apples of her cheeks with mark Good Glowing Mosaic Blush in Chica.”

“I finished the look with mark Chic Duet Color and Shine Lip Gloss in Halo Baby.”

Is it just me, or does LC’s hair look rather dark in this pic? Maybe it’s just the lighting… either way, I’m loving her bronzed skin.

How are you feeling about this look?
And, more importantly, will you be reading Lauren’s book?

Summer Do’s and Don’ts… A few of my favorite things….

By | favorites | 5 Comments

DO let your face soak in the salt water. Salt water is a natural drying agent – extracting those black heads and healing any sort of acne.

DON’T let your hair soak in the salt water. The ocean strips your hair of it’s color and shine AND dries it out. Try spraying some sort of hair defense spray (We’re loving Pureology’s Antifade Complex UV Hair Colour Defense! Thanks to the Silver Spoon Beach House, I was given a sample of this color protection spray. It’s amazing! Helping to reduce breakage and protect your hair from the sun and salt.)

DO layer your face and lips with Sunblock! Try Lancome’s SÔLEIL ULTRA EXPERT SUN CARE – SPF 50 Sunscreen Face Cream for Sensitive Skin! To completely prevent wrinkles and sunspots, you need a high SPF!

DON’T leave a white residue (or any color) of sun protection ANYWHERE on your face (this includes lips!) Colored zinc is soooo 1990’s!

DO wear lighter, more sheer colors on the face. Try Mark by Avon’s Summer line. The Shimmer and Shine tubes are fab for easy lip shine! Also, so well priced at $5.00 a pop! Try Marshmallow, the perfect pink.

DON’T layer your face with reds and blacks. Bold is great, just not for summer make-up!

DO wear lose, clothing… breazy and beachy. White is a summer staple. Beach attire should be more relaxed and tropical then every day attire. Try a cover-up by Float Designs. We’re loving the Sun-Soaked Pullover in white – perfect worn alone for the beach, add some jeans and flats and it’s great for a casual dinner as well!

DON’T dress like you’re a club rat. Leave the stiletto’s and boots at home! The sand is no place for your Jimmy Choo’s.

DO wear a bathing suit that suits your specific body type. Try Syla Swimwear – beautiful, fun and flirty swimsuits for every body type! The designer, Sylvie Cachay, worked at Victoria’s Secret before launching her own line. And let me tell you, these bikini’s are God sent! Pure beach bliss!!! (We’re loving the Carolina!)

DON’T wear a string bikini just because it’s “in.” Too much skin is just as bad as too little.

DO keep your body hydrated! Inside and Out! Drink tons of water and use a refreshing spray to offer refuge from the sun and heat. Try Banana Boat’s Aloe After Sun Gel Ultramist Continuous Spray. It smells sweet, replenishes moisture, aloe vera clams the skin AND it actually refreshes! We love this product!

DON’T slather on tons of oil just because you want a fast and easy tan. Burning is sooo not a cute look. Nor is skin cancer!

And lastly, DO have fun! Summer is all about the fun…

***Special Thanks to The Silver Spoon Beach House for giving us the A-list treatment and introducing us to some fabulous Summer lines!***
