The perfect collection for these humid summer days. Oil, be gone! With Kiehl’s new Ultra Facial Oil-Free Collection even the oiliest of skin types will stay shine-free all day long.
The 4-product line comes complete with an oil-free cleanser that lathers like no other, an oil-free toner, an oil-free gel cream that retains moisture while reducing the appearance of oil, and an oil-free lotion, which is basically a lightweight moisturizer (because even oily skin needs hydration!).
I’ve been using these products for about a week and I do see a significant decrease in my oil production. And that’s saying A LOT considering New York City is so humid at the moment, it’s as though my face is producing oil faster than I can maintain it. Not anymore! This stuff is humidity-proof. And it works without drying my face out to the point of cracking (you know what I’m talking about – when smiling hurts?). That’s why you moisturize! To keep your face hydrated, so that moisture is absorbed into the skin but not on top of the skin where it tends to create shine and grease.
This is just what the doctor ordered for the humid season – something to get rid of shine but while still keeping me hydrated. Loving these products!
While you may not want to commit to the full-size bottles just yet, you can try a starter kit of mini bottles of the Cleanser, Toner and Moisturizer for $24.50.
Yes, another Spring post. Hey, they say Spring’s on its way. Here’s to wishful thinking…
While Spring gives way to lighter jackets and open-toed shoes, it also sparks change in your beauty regimen. Winter is harsh on your skin. Spring is a bit nicer. Then Summer kicks face again.
Kiehl’s is celebrating the changing of season’s with the launch of a new skin cream – Rosa Arctica Youth Regenerating Cream. It’s a super-rich, incredibly luxe formula that will nourish, reactivate and regenerate your skin by “waking up” skin cells to regenerate healthier looking skin. Like Spring itself, life reforms.
The story behind the formula is like the change from winter to spring: ” a flower that has the physiological and structural strategy to minimize water loss such that it can dry out completely and survive periods of dryness during unfavorable conditions for up to 31 months as an environmental survival strategy. Then, when the optimal growth conditions arise, the plant resumes normal growth within hours, with only a few drops of moisture, and is restored in one to two days.”
Rosa Artica is thick in consistency and a little goes a long way so no need to overdue. It’ll definitely hydrate and, even for someone like me with moderate oily skin, it moisturized without turning my face greasy. But the part I loved most of all was how wonderfully glowing my skin looked after a night’s sleep in the cream. Remarkable. My skin seemed to soak the “Resurrection Flower” right up!
The Cream in Statistics:
Rosa Arctica is scientifically proven to:
• Retain moisture for smoother, healthier skin
• Increase cell vitality to accelerate key processes necessary for healthy skin function (proven by decrease of the enzyme LDH)
• Trigger skin’s own natural restoration process to stimulate collagen and elastin production
• Defend from future aging by protecting skin from environmental stressors, water loss and oxidation from free radicals
Key skin benefits from our consumer test:
• Helps to minimize the appearance of lines, increase firmness and elasticity, and smooth overall texture of skin.
• 91% stated their skin appeared revitalized and rejuvenated*
• 93% said skin felt denser and thicker*

Who says that beauty can’t change the world? Kiehl’s is proving otherwise. In honor of World AIDS day (today), the company introduces Hand Care for a Cure, a Limited Edition version of its customer favorite, Ultimate Strength Hand Salve.
Donating 100% of net profits of each product dedicated to stemming the loss of life from HIV/AIDS, this heavy-duty moisture treatment is a thick, rich formula offering all-day care and protection to hands. Featuring a blend of select ingredients that allows skin to actually draw and absorb water from the air, this hand salve forms a “glove-like’ protective barrier against moisture loss.
“Dating back to 1996, Kiehl’s has been committed to raising awareness of HIV/AIDS by partnering with reputable organizations like Magic Johnson AIDS Foundation, YouthAIDS and amfAR,” said Chris Salgardo, president, Kiehl’s USA. “In fact, since 2001, Kiehl’s has proudly raised upwards of $1,000,000 for the cause! From inception, it has been our mission to always give back to the communities in which we do business, and to do our part to be a socially responsible citizen. And, we are thrilled that we are once again able to donate to amfAR, a charity that Kiehl’s has supported for many years.”
Winter chapped skin be gone. AIDS be banished. Kiehl’s is here to help. Sustainable beauty at its finest. To order, visit www.kiehls.com.
100% of net proceeds benefit amfAR. “Founded in 1985, amfAR is dedicated to ending the global AIDS epidemic through innovative research. With the freedom and flexibility to respond quickly to emerging areas of scientific promise, amfAR plays a catalytic role in accelerating the pace of HIV/AIDS research and achieving real breakthroughs.”
I’ve always had a casual crush on Kiehl’s but now I am in full-blown love. Sexy, hydrating, glowing, delicious love.
The newest product to hit the Kiehl’s shelves (September 1) is the Imperial Body Balm and it’s — to say the least — impressive. It’s the perfect post-summer skin saver, not to mention a wonderful addition to a bronzed glow (real or otherwise). The balm feels like silk on the skin, so soft, gentle and smooth, leaving the body literally glowing thanks to Kiehl’s new secret ingredient: Sea Buckthorn Berry Oil. The oil is known for its natural antioxidants and skin regenerative capabilities and yes, my skin was naturally regenerated… in a very — dare I say — titillating way. It’s THAT powerful.
A word (or several…) from the company:
“Imperial Body Balm is now Kiehl’s richest all-over body moisturizer, and was inspired by Russian honey-based remedies. Our skin-renewing balm helps to protect skin from signs of premature aging due to dryness, exposure to harsh climates and environmental effects. Deeply hydrating Cocoa and Shea butters nourish while Honey and Fruit Glycolic Acids accelerate surface skin cell turnover in a formula that immediately delivers a renewed smoothness and youthful radiance to extra-dry, dull skin.”
The body balm has the slightest hint of sweet vanilla mixed with spicy amber. It makes for a wonderful daily lotion, regardless of your skin type, accelerating cell turnover with honey and fruit glycolic acids for immediate results. Even without extra-dry, dull skin, your body will still reep the benefits of perfectly hydrated and deliciously scented skin!
I smothered the body balm over my freshly washed body, dressed in my Alexander Wang romper and hit the town for an evening of dinner and drinks. It was all quite decadent and exciting but the best part of the evening was undoubtedly the compliments my smooth and glowing skin incurred.
And as they say, compliments are the finest form of advertising.

How amazing is this board in front of the Kiehl’s store on Robertson Boulevard in West Hollywood???
I literally stopped dead in my tracks and did some quick back-peddling.
My answer: YES!!!! Duhh…
The product being advertised is the Aloe Vera Liquid Body Cleanser – the first 100 % biodegradable formula and fragrance from Kiehl’s.
From Kiehl’s: “A liquid body cleanser, made from 100% biodegradable ingredients. All of Kiehl’s net profits from the sale of this product will support the work of JPF ECO SYSTEMS, a charitable partnership created by Kiehl’s and Brad Pitt to maximize awareness of environmental sustainability.”
From the sexiness that is Bradley Pitt: “Kiehl’s formulated this product to minimize the impact we have on our environment. All proceeds will go to benefit green initiatives around the globe.”
This is some serious sustainable beauty! Although we haven’t tried the body wash yet, we definitely will (if not solely to help the environment, then to bathe with the same wash as Brad)!
P.S. We hear that some of the writing on the bottle is actually Brad’s penmanship! AHHHHH, Mr. Pitt is such a do-gooder!

Kiehl’s Creme de Corps has long been a favorite of mine (and many others) for severe dry skin conditions. It’s a heavy-duty cream that intensely moisturizes without the hoopla of much else (no fragrance, dies, etc.). It’s one of those products that everyone has in their arsenal of beauty gear – a dry skin must-have.
Well, I’ve just discovered a cream that’s basically identical to the Kiehl’s Creme de Corps (cream of the body): Clinique’s Deep Comfort Body Butter, also known as Creme pour le Corps (cream for the body)… and the similarities don’t stop with the name.
Both are yellow in color and both are relatively thick (although Clinique’s is a bit richer in texture). Both are fragrance free (yes, Clinique is 100 % fragrance free) and loaded with moisturizing ingredients like shea butter.
BUT Clinique’s cream comes in a jar (which I love) while Kiehl’s is in a bottle. When I’m using a deep moisturizer (similar to when I use a hair masque) I like to be very tactile with the product… get my hands “dirty” in it. Take a handful from jar to palm and lather it onto my body. Clinique allows me this luxury; Kiehl’s does not. Since I usually apply fresh out of the bath or shower, I am very clean, thus my hands in the jar does not scare me. If I lived my life concerned that every time I used something in a jar rather then a tube I was spreading bacteria, I’d have missed out on so many great products (lippies, exfoliators, eye creams, face creams, hair masques, face masques, etc.). With the Kiehl’s Creme de Corps, one has to squeeze the lotion from the bottle. In my opinion, this approach is more of a hassle to consume the appropriate amount.
The Clinique cream is so gentle and incredible for sensitive skin while the Kiehl’s cream is a tad harsher. They even have the disclaimer, “We recommend testing a small amount of any product on the inside skin of the wrist area to check its compatibility with your skin.” I’m just saying… Clinique doesn’t need such a warning!
I’ve restocked my shelves and (GASP) replaced my Kiehl’s Creme de Corps with my Clinique Creme pour le Corps.… it’s my new favorite dry skin cream (and it’s amazing after a long day spent in chlorine or salt water). I feel recharged and rehydrated after a daily lather of the cream. It’s seriously one of the most soothing and gentle body moisturizers that I’ve ever put on my skin!
**Beauty Tip**: If you love the richness and intensity of the cream, but want a bit of fragrance (and aren’t sensitive or allergic to fragrance), try adding a couple of drops of your favorite massage oil or fragrant oil. I love adding an organic lavender oil to my cream!
PRICE TAG: Kiehl’s – 16.50 for 4.2 oz. or $26.50 for 8.4 oz/ Clinique: $23.50 for 6.7 oz
I’ve been trying not to be such a hoarder lately – in essence, I’m attempting to use all of my products that have been piling up in the cabinets and under the bed. It’s part of a “me” cleanse – uncluttering my life to make room for bigger and better things (how Oprah of me, I know!).
I vaguely remember purchasing the Kiehl’s Cryste Marine Firming Eye Treatment. I strutted into the boutique on Robertson Boulevard in search of a hydrating eye cream that prevented wrinkles – not as thick as the Imperiale Repairateur Eye Balm (this is basically a tub of oils), yet not as gentle as the Eye Alert. So, I settled on the Cryste Marine. I used it a few times and then somehow, forgot that I even owned it (this happens quite often as I consume SO MANY products that I usually try them and move on…. unless I absolutely die over them, then they are awarded permanent residence on the shelf).
A few weeks ago I decided to briskly “clean out” my product cabinet (and by “clean out” I really mean “move around”) and that’s when I rediscovered the Cryste Marine eye cream. I’ve gotta say, the second time around, I’m definitely feeling the love. I’ve used it religiously every night before bed because I like how soothing and firming it leaves my eye area. It absorbs quickly, forgoing that terrible “shiny eye” look that so many eye creams leave behind.
But I’ve noticed a major issue: it smells like S#%^!!! Seriously, the aftersmell is so vile I refuse to wear the cream during the day for fear that someone will stand too close to my face and cringe in disgust! The only reason I can think of for the smell is that one of the main ingredients in the cream is Criste Marine, “an unusual botanical found aside the Mediterranean Sea, as well as Padina Pavonica.” Could this be the cause of the foul smell???
I really do like this product – it delivers results and I can feel the cream penetrating the eye area… so, I’m feeling desperate here…. what should I do? Move on or deal?
Have you ever had a product that you love, yet you can’t stand the smell? If so, what did you do?
Beauty Banter needs YOUR help!!!
A juicy, pink lip is a necessity, especially for the big V day. Yesterday, as I was walking down Robertson Blvd. in Los Angeles (looking for my Valentine dress, to no avail), I passed the Kiehl’s store, and of course, I had to venture inside.
The chalkboard sign outside read: “Kiss Me With Kiehl’s.” And I thought to myself, what a great tag line!
Well, it looks like Kiehl’s is offering a fabulous trio of yummy lippies exclusively for Valentine’s day.
And, as a gesture to all you lovers out there, Kiehl’s is introducing two new shades for the holiday.
French Rose, a subtle, sheer pink hue, and Downtown Peach, a bolder yet equally sheer golden-pink color .
The Kiss Me With Kiehl’s Lip Gloss Trio comes in a plastic travel case… colors include French Rose, Downtown Peach and any other favorite that you may have (I’ve always gone gaga for the Berry 1851, a sheer hint of red that’s both feminine and provocative). There are 8 other colors to choose from.
This Valentine’s Day, shine that pucker and put it to the kissing test!
PRICE TAG: $43.50 for the trio
