C.O. Bigelow’s lemon collection is one of my favorite bath lines. I’m truly obsessed with the lemon body souffle (cream, but it feels more like a whipped dessert on my skin). It’s like a slice of heaven. Seriously.

I’ll be the first to admit that lemon can have a propensity towards the cleaning detergent aroma, but not this lemon. This lemon is part sweet and sugary with a hint of sour and a dash of fresh. It’s all delish.

My most recent discovery from the line is the Lemon No 1999 Eau De Parfum. It’s the perfect pairing for the lemon body cream but great alone to add that splash of pure citrus scent. Winter is cold and dreary. Lemon No 1999 makes me feel all warm and sunny. Smile, it’s like summer on my palms.

A word (or several…) from the company:
“The pure, sparkling Lemon fragrance blends effervescent citrus notes with green lemon leaves and sensual, creamy undertones of warm white musk.”

And the price is unbeatable: for $34.50, I drench my body with the light mist without the slightest bit of reservation.

Let the compliments roll in, ladies.

Soap is harsh for our skin, we know that, that’s why companies have come out with soap-free cleansers. But how about our hands? Don’t our hands deserve the same TLC as our face and body?

Well, the uber chemists over at C.O. Bigelow believe just that. They’ve created a soap-free hand cleanser that cleans and conditions without stripping your hands of their natural oils.

C.O. Bigelow
Chapped Hands Cleanser
is a must-have for anyone who suffers from dry hands, nails, cuticles… and everyone who wants to look hip and avant-garde (“Where’s your hand soap?” “Oh, it’s in the jar!”)

A word (or several…) from the company:

You’re in good hands with our richly textured, emollient, soap-free cleanser. We’ve combined ultra skin-conditioning aloe and moisturizing jojoba oil to thoroughly cleanse and soothe rough, dry chapped hands without harsh detergents. This highly moisturizing cleanser will liquefy on contact with the skin, helping hands feel soft, smooth and protected all day.

We love our new hand soap-free cleanser! And it looks so cutting edge perched atop our sink!

Bath Time is Fun Time

From Fellow Beauty Whore, Di Gaeta:
(recommendations for a divinely blissfull bathing experience…)

“If I learned anything this Valentine’s Day, it’s that beauty is all about the bath. Besides being a great place to distress, which we all know is the best way to avoid those dreaded wrinkles, it’s a great place to exfoliate. I’m all about exfoliation, as you devout beauty bloggers know, and I’ve found the greatest one of all time. Everything I’m about to share with you, by the way, is courtesy of the geniuses behind the Standard Hotel in downtown, LA, one of my favorite places to stay.
So, I begin my bath with a good old-fashioned classic: Yes, ladies, this childhood best is still just as good as you remember… with a sexy, hot pink bottle and a scent of cherries, clean laundry, and bubble gum.
Once you’ve soaked till your pruney, pull out a jar of C.O.Bigelow’s Lemon Sugar Body Scrub. This little jar of heaven leaves you brightened and moisturized. Once you’ve gotten out and lightly towel dried, follow it all with C.O. Bigelow’s Lemon Body Cream. This Stuff is so thick and perfect for winter and I’m not exaggerating when I tell you it smells exactly like a lemon sugar pie. Yummy!

Till next week, you little pretties……

Xoxo Di”

Who hasn’t tried C.O. Bigelow’s mint-insfused lip gloss? (I mean, they were even giving them out at Coffee Bean with any coffee purchase!)
Well now, they come tinted. Minty fresh breath and a hint of color all-in-one…. I’m loving it!
My pick, Mentha Lip Tint in Pink. It’s super shiny with the mildest dose of light pink to glam up any pucker. I use it for day and to apply over other darker colors for night. It also plucks the pucker.
Can you imagine all this for 5 bucks?!

Roses are Red…

Dry skin hurts. And it feels like sand paper. And it looks like a raisin.
Okay, don’t start crying just yet… let me tell you about nature’s secret moisturizer… Rosewater. It works wonders.
Rosewater is said to be a natural hydrator. Hydrated skin looks better and feels better. Oh yeah, and it slows down that nasty little thing called aging…
Not to mention, the smell… pure roses, au natural!

Here are some rosewater products that we adore:

Mario Bedescu’s Facial Spray With Aloe, Herbs And Rosewater is the ideal boost of hydration. Use it daily to cool off or after make-up to help it all settle in.

Smith’s Rosebud Salve is the ultimate chap-stick. Also can be used for diaper rashes and blemishes. I sometimes rub it on my cuticles to hydrate the sensitive skin (especially after a manicure!)

Epicuren After Bath Rose Petal Moisturizer. No, it’s not roseWATER, but rose is actually considered to be “nature’s most moisturizing essential oil. The lotion calms and hydrates dry skin.

Bigelow Chemists Rose Water Skin Tonic 8 is a balancing tonic for normal to dry skin. “This gentle tonic perks up tired-looking skin, promoting a bright radiant complexion.”

So next time you feel like your skin is going to shrivel up like a prune, try one of these rosewater enriched products and stop complaining!!!
Tres Magnifique!

I’m thankful for:
Nars Turkish Delight lip gloss – a “pink sorbet” color with mega shine minus the goo.
Kerastase Nutritive Elixer Oleo Relax hair drops – the most fabulous anti-friz serum in all of hair care land! (my mane is always soft, friz-free and curly when I use this product)
Marc Jacobs by Marc Jacobs perfume – a staple fragrance that smells of gardenia and musk. (I’ve worn this for the past 5 years and still continue to get loads of compliments)!
Kinerase Intensive Eye Cream – my new dark circle savior!!! It moisturizes and minimizes bags and darkness. Alas, I feel like a pre-teen again! (also a great base prior to using eye make-up!)
Kiehl’s Coriander Bath and Shower Liquid Body Cleanser and Hand and Body Lotion – an old favorite past time that has become a new and welcomed bathing treat! The smell is a delicious blend of Winter richness that lathers and rinses leaving my skin soft and radiant. And the lotion compliments the shower gel, moisturizing and reviving dehydrated skin.
Mario Badescu Drying Lotion – the closest thing that I’ve found to a zit zapper. This is a miracle product that literally dries out those nasty little pimples overnight! It’s like magic!
MAC Splashproof PowerPoint Eye Pencil in Engraved – a liner that goes on strong and lasts so long! Easy to apply and fun to smudge… I use it to line my lids as well as that sensitive area inside of my eye! (very mysterious….)
Tend Skin Razor Bump Solution – An oldie, but goodie! After a painful wax in that “intimate area,” Tend Skin is a welcomed soother. It actually rids the region of redness and ingrown hairs! TRICK!!! Tend Skin can also be used on acne for a quick fix… 1,2,3 and the pimple is gone!
C.O. Bigelow’s Dr. Hiosous Quince Hand Lotion – a salve that literally saves my chapped and cracked hands! All natural, it smells of a mixture of fruit extracts and carrot oil and it lasts for an unearthly amount of time. This is my absolute favorite hand cream in the world… I never leave home without it!

Leaving on a Jet Plane…

By | how to | 5 Comments

Tonight I am returning to California (Los Angeles) after a three month jaunt on the East Coast (New York City). I’m a pretty low-maintenance flyer – give me a seat next to a window, my own TV and a Klonopin and I’m good. If I allow my mind to wander to those frightening places, I do think about the fact that I am breathing recycled air for five in a half hours – this can’t be good for the immune system or the skin….
So this is how I ready myself pre-flight:
I ALWAYS carry hand lotion in my bag. Current Choice: C. O. Bigelow Dr. Hiosous Quince Hand Lotion – non-greasy and effective. I don’t need to apply a million times – once does the trick!
I ALWAYS bring my own liter-size bottle of Evian water.
I ALWAYS take (I prefer the lemon-lime flavor) an hour before the flight is slated to depart.
I ALWAYS use an astringent, face moisturizer and eye cream before I leave my house. Current Choices: Kiehl’s Blue Astringent Herbal Lotion; Ole Henriksen Herbal Day Creme Anti-Oxidant Formula SPF 15; Shiseido Benefiance Revitalizing Eye Cream – sooooo moisturizing it’s like candy for your eyes… yummy!
I ALWAYS carry my Labello Cherry Lip Balm – it moisturizes without any goo or shine and adds a dab of red color to your pout (just because your traveling doesn’t mean that you have to look insipid!)
And a great tip from my hair fanatic friend, Jenny Cohen, slather your nose with Neosporin – I know, it sounds a little suspect, but it actually aids in fighting off infections from the dry, reprocessed airplane air.
And lastly, I ALWAYS bring my oversized Dolce & Gabbana Sunglasses to ward off wandering eyes (and to shield my own eyes from those nasty fluorescent lights!)
So farewell for now – see you back on the West Coast….
