Summer Moisturizers For Every Skin Type
Summer’s sunny, humid climate can actually dehydrate the skin. Weird, we know. But think about it: the sun is super dehydrating, and then all of that processed air to keep you cool is really drying for the skin. So while humidity and sun can leave us looking greasy, our complexions are actually begging for a dose of moisture. Here are five great moisturizers to try for every skin type — and an eye cream to keep you looking youthful well into fall.
Whamisa By Glow Studio Green Tea Moisturizer ($25) – For combination to oily skin. Green tea balances oil production while also adding much-needed moisture. This oil-free moisturizer also brightens the skin for a more healthy-looking complexion.
Biossance Squalane + Probiotic Gel Moisturizer ($52) – For normal to dry skin, and sensitive skin. Gels are soothing and hydrating for summer skin. Squalane and probiotics intensely moisturize, soothe, and calm irritated skin.
Pure Heals Centella 90 Ampoule ($28) – For acne-prone skin. If you’re fearful of adding oils to your acne-prone face, then this isn’t for you. But studies show that sometimes, oily, broken out skin actually needs more oil. This ampoule is highly concentrated with 90% centella extract, which speeds up acne healing and aids in a clear, more even complexion.
Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Gel ($52) – For dry and sensitive skin. Touted as “a cool glass of water for your thirsty skin,” this soothing gel is formulated with intensely hydrating ingredients, like B5 and hyaluronic acid, to offer moisture without any irritation.
Youth To The People Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream – For mature, severely dehydrated, stressed skin. Adaptogens are the new skincare HG ingredient: they’re basically botanical extracts that adapt to your skin’s stressors. Literally, they de-stress skin so that your complexion can maintain optimal health. While all skin can benefit from adaptogens, this cream is best for beverly dry skin types and/ or stressed, angry, irritated complexions.
Kiehl’s Youth Dose Eye Treatment ($39) – For all skin types. Retinol mixes with vitamin C and hydrating ingredients to create a tightening and brightening eye cream that moisturizes while also de-puffing and working to ward off dark circles. It’s lightweight, absorbs quickly, and acts as a great makeup primer.
***TBH, personally, I’m still on the hunt for a moisturizer that doesn’t irritate my skin, doesn’t contain any acids, essential oils, or fragrances, hydrates fully and effectively, and doesn’t make me break out (something to help banish breakouts is a plus)! I have a lot of moisturizers that I go back-and-forth with, but I need that one HG magic lotion. Any recommendations? Leave yours in the comments below. xo
