Style: What Would Jane Wear?
Playing dress up was one of my favorite past times in grade school. Transforming myself into different characters by merely changing my dress or shoes was exhilarating. Even now when I go through my closet it’s fun to think of what my favorite style icons would wear and reinterpret. Jane Birkin has always been aspirational, her laissez-faire approach to style made her an irresistable muse. Jane’s daily uniform consisted of flared jeans, skinny turtlenecks, and peasant tops.
Here, Jane Birkin’s look reimagined for 2014:
1. Mother Denim The Cruiser Destroyed Flare Jeans $210 – Mother Denim has a higher rise so it is close to the look and feel of vintage denim favorites worn in the sixties and seventies. The flare was a favored cut of Jane’s and looks great with almost any shoe.
2. Isabel Marant Lace Inset Peasant Blouse $698- Jane’s effortless approach to bohemian chic makes this Isabel Marant top a perfect match. It’s no fuss but still feminine and the combination of textures from lace, organza and cotton make it a truly eclectic piece.
3. Madewell x Bamboula Ltd. Woven Tote $68- The straw tote was Jane’s signature tote before Hermes named a bag after her. This tote has a classic shape like Jane’s beloved tote, but the mix of colors and print make it modern and fun.
