Skin: A Cleanser For Every Skin Type

best face cleansers for every skin type

A healthy complexion starts with your cleanser. While you want a wash that will remove the day, it’s important to use products that will effectively cleanse your skin type. When choosing your cleanser, three crucial factors come into play: 1) skin type; 2) ingredient list; 3) gentle enough for daily use. Not all cleansers are created equal, ladies. Are you using the proper face wash for your skin type? Find out below:

Normal – Choose a gentle cleanser that does a little of everything – clarifies and hydrates the complexion in equal parts.
B Kamins Vegetable Skin Cleanser ($34) – This vegetable-based cleanser is oil, fragrance and color-free. Works as a makeup remover too. Clarifying, soothing and moisturizing while acting as a gentle daily wash.

Oily/ Acne – Ingredients like sulfur, salicylic acid, witch hazel, and AHA and BHA’s will help to curb excess oil while removing build up that can cause breakouts.
Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare All-In-One Cleansing Foam ($36) – This award-winning cleanser is ideal for problem skin. It deep cleans yet is gentle enough for everyday use. Witch hazel and willowherb are natural toning ingredients that heal and soothe while combating congestion.

Combination – You want a cleanser that will remove grit and grime without stripping natural oils. It’s a balancing act.
Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel ($20) – A wonderful, non-foaming daily cleanser that uses natural Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA) from papaya and grapefruit extracts to clean pores and remove dirt, grime, and pollution without over drying.

Dry – Milky cleansers loaded with essential oils work best.
Eve Lom Cleanser ($50) – A cult-favorite balm cleanser that combines four aromatic oils plus a thick base to remove dirt while adding hydration.

Sensitive – A cleanser that is free of harsh ingredients and detergents and won’t irritate your natural PH balance.
Elemental Herbology Delicate Cleanse Facial Cleanser ($52)- This soothing milk cleanser is one of the most gentle washes that I have ever tried (in fact, I tend to alternate between deeper washes and this delicate cleanser). Rose Damask Water, Chamomile and Omega 3, 6 and 9  remove make-up and impurities while nurturing sensitive skin types.

Organic – If you’re following a green beauty routine…
Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser ($75) – One of my all time favorite cleansers containing 11 active ingredients. It lightly exfoliates without harsh detergents, but can also double as a weekly deep wash (work into skin for 5-10 minutes). Suitable for all skin types.
