“My addiction to skincare began when I was in high school, when I discovered the K-beauty brand, Laneige. I remember using a ton of their brightening products at the time because my objective was to get really clear and bright skin. Eventually, I branched out to other K-beauty brands such as Klairs, Huxley, Blithe, Wishtrend, Leegeeham, and more. And through @projectskin_, I am given many opportunities to try different products from indie brands to luxury brands to K-beauty brands. Today, I incorporate many K-beauty products into my daily skincare routine in combination with luxury and indie products.

It was August 2017, and I had just finished a statistics course in summer school. I had a whole month to myself before I had to return to school. I picked up my phone and started to take a whole bunch of photos of my skincare products and routines. I really wanted to post these photos and share them with people of similar interests, and that’s when I decided to start an Instagram page dedicated to skincare, @projectskin_.

At the end of the day, I like to unwind by simply hopping onto Instagram, checking out beautiful posts, and reading about what other bloggers have to say about beauty. Instagram is a place for me to express my creative freedom, interact, and meet individuals. And, it is a place for me to improve my photography skills and learn editing techniques, ultimately, expanding my skillset.

I lean towards the gentle calming products because I find that’s what works best for my skin. I have oily/combination and slightly sensitive skin. Some products that I use on a daily basis are Grown Alchemist Balancing Toner, Iunik Rose Galactomyces Serum, Dr. Barbara Sturm Glow Drops, and Dr. Barbara Sturm Hyaluronic Serum. I am also a huge fan of green beauty products. I actually developed my love for green beauty through the influence of Instagram. I think my most favorite green beauty product of all time is Youth to the People’s Kale Spinach Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizer. I’ve gone through three jars; it is literally the BEST daytime moisturizer I have ever used. It doesn’t cause skin irritations and breakouts. I also find that it helps minimize the production of sebum throughout the day. It’s the kind of moisturizer that I always fall back to whenever my skin acts up.

Here is a #shelfie depicting some of my most recent loves that I use on high rotation.

Dr. Barbara Sturm Glow Drops – This serum is probably my most favorite serum of 2018. It’s so great at hydrating and resurfacing the skin. And I love that it reduces texture instantly. You can see the results overnight! The Glow Drops can also be used as a makeup base/makeup primer.

Dr. Barbara Sturm Hyaluronic Serum – I love anything HA, tbh. This serum is so soothing, hydrating, and calming. I love using it day and night because it’s so lightweight and easy to layer. I need a lifetime supply of this!

Grown Alchemist Balancing Toner – Another product I’ve been enjoying is this calming toner. It contains rose, ginseng, and chamomile. It’s super gentle and smells incredible. The scent reminds me of sweet iced tea. The consistency is really lightweight and thin, almost like water. I already know I am repurchasing this in the future.

Youth to the People Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream – I’m not a big fan of moisturizers because they either feel too heavy or they just cause breakouts on my skin. But I have absolutely no problem with this cream. It’s so hydrating and soothing; the texture is a little heavy, but it feels really light on the skin.

Paula’s Choice 10% Niacinamide Booster – I love the thin watery texture of this serum. I like to add a couple drops into my moisturizer to apply. I find that this helps reduce the size of my pores and brighten my overall complexion.

Caudalie Premier Cru Le Serum – I’m obsessed with anything anti-aging and brightening. That’s why this is my go-to night serum; I reach for it whenever my skin is looking a little dull or dehydrated. My face instantly looks plumper and brighter the next morning.

Caudalie Vinoperfect Glycolic Brightening Essence – This essence contains glycolic acid to help resurface the skin and promote a brighter complexion. I like to pat in 3-5 drops after toner and give it 5-minutes to soak into my skin before moving on to other products. I also love the scent; it’s sweet and subtle.

Olivarrier Dual Moist Toning Lotion – I love the beautiful light consistency of this toner. It’s so gentle, calming, and hydrating, and it layers beautifully with other products. This is also scent-free.”
