Review: Nars x Man Ray

Review: Nars x Man Ray

You’d expect a makeup collection that takes the name Man Ray (after the photographer) to be decadent, colorful, interesting, and a bit surreal (just like the photographer himself) — and Nars’ new Holiday 2017 Collection does not disappoint. From the bold colored blushes to the metallic infused lip pencils and glosses to the shiny gold makeup pouch, the Nars x Man Ray limited-edition collection is, quite simply, a work of art.

Here are our five favorite products to give — or receive (get those wish lists ready, ladies):

NARS x Man Ray Overexposed Glow Highlighter ($42) – A universally flattering, shimmery champagne-y rose gold highlighter that gives skin that healthy, ethereal inner glow. Swipe on eyelids for a barely-there luminizer look as well.

NARS x Man Ray The Kiss Velvet Matte Lip Pencil Set ($49) – This set of four metallic matte lip pencils and a sleek gold makeup pouch is the perfect present (to buy for yourself, too!). These four shades are so on-trend for fall/winter 2017, they’re bound to become your go-to lippies for the season. From a pinky-nude to a crimson red to a coral gold and a berry-wine, wear alone, or mix together to create a show-stopping, lip-smacking shade all your own.

NARS x Man Ray Zambeze Photogloss Lip Lacquer ($26) – We love the nude hue, and it looks fantastic layered over other nude lipsticks, when you’re going for a more glossy finish. But it’s also pretty impressive on its own, and one of our favorite nude glosses for fall/ winter.

NARS x Man Ray Montparnasse Due Eye Shadow ($36) – Some may say that purple eyeshadow isn’t real life wearable — but this shadow set disputes that claim. The shimmery aubergine shadow will work on all skin tones, and it almost looks brown… with a pop of purple. The lighter shade – a shimmery eggshell neutral – can be used swept over the entire lid, to make the brow bone and inner eye pop, and blended with the darker shade to create a color of its own.

NARS x Man Ray The Veil Cheek Palette – The single blushes are great, but this threesome is where we want to spend our money. It comes with all of the necessities: a bronzer (Laguna), a mandarin-watermelon blush shade (limited edition; Lovesick), and a rose-bronze highlighter (limited edition; aptly called Surreal). TIP: Mix the bronzer and blush shade to create a hue worth blushing over.
