Pantone’s Color Of The Year: Ultra Violet
After Pantone gave us Greenery in 2017, we were happy to see a more beauty-friendly color for 2018: Ultra Violet. This artistic and deeply pigmented purplish hue is just screaming to be painted on our faces. While it may look intimidating at first glance, the shade can actually be quite wearable if you choose the right products – here’s what we’ll be trying out to stay on -trend this year.
Butter London Pantone 2018 Color of the Year Nail Lacquer ($10) – A pop of color on your nails is arguably the easiest way to try out this trend. Consider swapping this for your usual winter burgundy or navy.
Yes, you can pull off purple mascara. While it works on all eye shades, it will definitely make hazel eyes appear more green. Marc Jacobs Beauty O! Mega Lash Volumizing Mascara ($26) delivers the drama, thanks to a super thickening formula.
One of the keys to pulling off a seriously bold lip is lining first. Wander Beauty Lipsetter Dual Lipstick and Liner ($28) includes a gorgeous purple liner on one end to perfectly compliment the super-pigmented, matte-yet-hydrating lipstick on the other.
A line of purple next to the lash line is a fun alternative to your go-to cat eye or smudged liner. Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner ($22) delivers a fierce shot of color, and the waterproof formula stays put all day.
Smith & Cult Interlewd Eyeshadow Palette ($44) has four stunning purple shades to blend across your lid for a more interesting alternative to your classic smokey eye.
Looking to really go for it? We applaud you. Make a serious statement with Maybelline ColorSensational Vivid Matte Liquid ($5) lip paint in Wicked Berry. All eyes will most certainly be on your ultra violet pout.
