Get The Look: Lois Lane

Get The Look: Lois Lane

With the latest installment of the Superman franchise’s debut this past weekend, we thought taking a look back at the woman who stole Clark Kent’s heart – Lois Lane – is rather timely. After all, who wouldn’t be stoked to have a superhero fawning over her? Especially if that superhero looked like Henry Cavill, most recent Superman. Dreamy.

The original Lois Lane – played by Margot Kidder – was a brunette beauty with steely blue eyes. How could anyone forget that raven, shoulder-length hair with the most perfectly coiffed bangs? I do believe that Lois – aka Margot – was my first brunette beauty crush. In Man Of Steel, the 2013 version of the classic, Lois Lane is played by a ginger-haired, bang-free Amy Adams. What Amy and Margot’s Lois’ lack in hair color, they make up for in natural, authentic, intelligent beauty. Lois Lane is a no-fuss reporter. She’s probably got about 10 minutes to get up, get dressed and get out the door so her beauty routine must be simple. What I noticed in both Margot and Amy’s Lois’ is that they kept the faces simple – a bit of mascara, flawless complexion and a stained lip. While Margot’s lip was a more of a coral shade, Amy’s has a red tint. Both work well for this no frills Lois Lane look.

Try Benefit’s Benetint, the perfect rose-hued lip and cheek stain (go ahead and add a few dabs to the apples of your cheeks). For a peachy lip, try Nars Satin Lip Pencil in Isola Bella, a peach beige. For a dewy complexion, go with Laura Mercier’s new Tinted Moisturizer Crème Compact Broad Spectrum SPF 20 Sunscreen. It provides sheer to medium coverage and can be applied on-the-go (like when Superman is rescuing you from a burning building). Finish off the look with a thickening mascara like L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Million Lashes Waterproof Mascara in Blackest Black. A few coats of this waterproof formula and you’ll be giving Clark batty eyes while he whisks you through the night sky. And in true Margot fashion, make sure to apply the slightest smudge of eyeliner to your lower waterline. Again, waterproof is key as you can never be too certain about the climate high above the trees. Try Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Stingray (black) or Lionfish (deep bronze, great for redheads).

Now that you’ve got the Lois look down, it’s time to find your Clark Kent. Good luck with that…
