FAVORITES: Labor Day Lusts
The final weekend of summer is upon us. What to pack, where to go, what to wear. Oh, the questions! I’d imagine you’ll want one last weekend of sun, preferably by a body of water (the beach sounds quite nice), pack minimal – the less clothes, the better. Bikinis and sarongs and a nice wedge is just about all you need.
When it comes to hair and makeup, it’s a last hurrah for summer trends.
Let’s re-explore our favorites (click on the trend for a recap):
The Coral Trend – Coral color for eyes, lips and cheeks
Orange Lips – Orange replaces Red as the lip for summer
Beachy Waves – Beach-chic hair was all the rage in and out of the ocean
And now, our favorite Labor Day Lust products that should be in everyone’s beauty bag come the weekend (bbq or beach bonfire!).
1 – A coral blush – to add a kick of color to your kick ass tan (and a final tribute to summer). Try Benefit’s Cha Cha Tint – it’s a cheek AND lip stain that stays in place despite the final days of heat!
2 – Charlotte Ronson’s A Perfect Mess Beach Hair – Everyone needs the final days of summer to be spent with some rocking waves (in your locks). This beachy wave spray is my new favorite for just-stepped-out-of-the-ocean-hair all day (and night) long.
3 – Peter Thomas Roth Instant Mineral Powder SPF 45 – A powder to keep oil at bay + a suitable face SPF to keep wrinkles and sun damage away? NICE! Brush is attached, so perfect for on-the-go. A flawless complexion is a must for every season! Also comes in a bronzing formula for some added golden color.
4 – Hydrating Lippy with SPF – I’m into the Fresh Sugar lippies. I find them to be incredibly moisturizing while adding a hint of color and a sun protector of 15. I use them at the beach, by the pool and by the fire pit! I love the Sugar Plum Tinted Lip Treatment in a berry hue, but they also come in a clear, nude, rose and red.
5 – Waterproof Eyeliner – While summer is about natural beauty, I always believe that the focal point should be the eyes. We’ve spent posts upon posts discussing lashes and mascara, so here’s one on eyeliner. For summer, opt for a lighter shade (grey, brown, or army green as opposed to black) and line the inner bottom lid and the top outer lid and gently smudge for a natural smoky eye. It’ll enhance your own eye color while giving you a bit of added drama. DON’T OVERDUE! Smudge lightly (and gently – you don’t want to smudge wrinkles into your eyes!). Try Tarte SmolderEYES Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner – it even has a smudger built in on the opposite side! Summer happy colors are: Bronze, brown, charcoal and olive.
HAVE A HAPPY AND SAFE LABOR DAY HOLIDAY!
