Favorites: Body Oils

With plummeting temps comes the need for added hydration, and nothing moisturizes the body quite like an oil. Sure, body oils are great for showing off slender gams in summer, but come fall and winter, they’ll actually keep your skin from cracking, flaking, and (gasp!) hurting from extreme cold and intense processed heat (a killer combination).

Application tip: When applying a body oil, it’s best to do it directly out of the shower, while still damp. Pour onto skin and massage upwards in quick strokes to aid in circulation, which also helps to break up fat cells and decrease cellulite. Let the oil dry entirely before dressing. This would be a good time to do that new smokey eye you learned last week.

Here are a few of our favorite body oils:

Indie Lee Patchouli Sandalwood Moisturizing Oil ($36) – It smells refreshingly calm and the pump applicator makes it a breeze to apply. Plus, it’s all-natural, can be used on face, hair, and body, and is filled with essential moisturizing oils like jojoba, apricot, and ylang ylang.

Kora Organics Luxurious Rosehip Body Oil ($64) – This eco-cert organic treatment oil hydrates and replenishes with one of nature’s most combative moisturizing agents, rosehip. Skin is left soft, smooth, and radiant. Add a few drops into the bath for a silky (and sexy) bathing experience.

Acure Dry Oil Spray in Coconut ($13) – This lightweight marula and organ oil easily absorbs into the skin leaving a lingering scent of coconut that will have you nostalgic for summer. The spray makes it simple to apply and can also double as a hair oil mist.

Nuxe Multi-Purpose Dry Oil – Nuxe is known for some pretty fabulous oil formulations, but the dry oil is truly coveted. It leaves a faint jasmine/ gardenia scent on the skin and a beautiful sheen to the body. With a combination of six botanical oils and vitamin E, this treatment will have your skin hydrated and healthy in no time. You can also use on face and hair (bonus!).

Whish Body Oil in Almond ($28) – This extra hydrating oil comes in a pump for easy full body application. The formula moisturizes with sesame and sunflower seeds, soothes with olive leaf extract and jojoba seed oil, and enhances luminosity with a proprietary blend of peptides. The luxurious oil reduces the appearance of fine lines (hello, elbows), soothes inflamed skin, and leaves your body smelling of sweet almond. Divineness.

Desert Essence Organic Coconut And Jojoba Oil ($7) – This USDA organic formula is a seriously powerful (and non-toxic) beauty oil for body and hair (for hair, apply, leave on for 20 minutes, then rinse out). Coconut moisturizes while jojoba balances so that your body and hair are left hydrated, but never greasy. The scent is faint coconut, but not of the sweeter variety.
