Lip Service – Fall’s Must-Have Lipstick Shades

Lip Service – Fall’s Must-Have Lipstick Shades

Now that it’s officially fall (uncomfortably cold weather and all), it’s time to up your lip game. Gone are the summer days of shiny lips and barely-there shades. To make a statement this season, you’ll want to go for a healthy dose of hue on your pout. The bolder, the better. You’ll want a full-bodied lipctick – something that packs a punch. Think of shades in dark reds, berry’s and plums (for best of fall blush shades, click here). When wearing a dark lip, keep the rest of the face natural, save for a few coats of mascara. You’ll want to choose matte and stains, although a hint of shine is perfectly acceptable – but steer clear of a glossy pout. However, if a brooding, dark lip is not your forte, opt for a like shade in a sheer formula.

Tom Ford Lip Color in Brusied Plum ($49) – This rich wine shade will give your lips the color that they so rightfully deserve. By far, my favorite plum of the season.

Urban Decay Super Saturated High Gloss Lip Color in Apocalypse  ($19) – If you’re in the mood for a berry hue, then this is the shade for you. It goes on strong, almost staining the lips, but without the dry aftermath. The formula actually moisturizes while producing perfect pigment.

OCC Lip Tar in Strumpet ($18) – This super pigmented matte formula contains hemp and peppermint to soothe and soften while still delivering high voltage color. The grape berry shade is perfectly on trend for fall.

Kat Von D Painted Love Lipstick in Hellbent ($19) – A blood red shade that is richer than your classic red lip. Try a blood red lip with pale, flawless skin and little else.

Shiseido Lacquer Rouge Lisptick in Nocturne ($25) – I adore all of the shades in this collection, but Nocturne is my choice for fall. It’s an intense deep red that goes on like a gloss but dries like a stain. And the color lasts all day.

Lipstick Queen Medieval ($22) – A relatively transparent rich red that can be layered for bolder color. The vitamin E infused formula keeps lips hydrated, while the color is said to help give skin a flawless effect.
