A Guide To Sexy Summer Legs

A Guide To Sexy Summer Legs

Rising temps equal rising hems and that means leg season is in full effect. We know, it dawned on us too. While there’s nothing more liberating than living in the teeniest, tiniest shorts all summer long, our legs may have yet to look the part. But there’s no reason to get leg-conscious, after all, we rely on our legs to get us around, so they may acquire a few bumps and bruises along the way. When the occasional barre classes haven’t managed to give us Kendall Jenner-stems, hope is not lost, a few tips and tricks can make our legs look instantly more sleek, toned, and super sexy! Because shorts, miniskirts, and bikinis during summer are not a suggestion, it’s the rule. #Summer17

Read on, we have the guide to head-turning gams…

1. Prep

First things first, legs, or any other part of our bodies is not going to look great without proper prep and skincare. That being said, make sure to: shave, wax, etc., exfoliate, moisturize, and repeat. For the closest shave possible, use a 4-blade (or higher) razor and shaving cream. Avoid nicks and in-growns with an aftershave, or try witch hazel, which tends skin post-shave naturally. Exfoliate religiously to get rid of dead, scaly skin and moisturize like there’s no tomorrow. There, leg-prep, done. TRY: Tree Hut Bare Moisturizing Shave Oil ($12), Dr. Bronner’s Tea Tree Shaving Soap ($9), Shea Moisture Honey & Black Seed After Shave Healing Elixir ($9), Fresh Brown Sugar Body Polish ($67).

2. Combat bumps and dimples

Even the fittest of models confess to battling dimply thighs, aka cellulite. In fact, 90% of women have cellulite, so we’re not alone. Sure, a trip to a cosmetic derm, and a couple hundred to a thousand per, laser sessions can give us taut skin. But, when that’s not an option, using firming body creams and lotions, coffee scrubs, and dry brushing all help to diminish the appearance of “cottage cheese” thighs, by stimulating blood flow, and consequentially, toning and tightening the area. TRY: The Seaweed Bath Co. Detox Cellulite Soap ($8), Frank Body Original Coffee Scrub ($17), Eco Tools Dry Body Brush ($5), Clarins Masvelt Body Shaping Cream ($67), Dr. Brandt Cellusculpt Body Shaper & Cellulite Smoothing Cream ($59).

3. Self-tanner is #bae

A little color goes a looong way. Really. Kind of how head-to-toe monochrome black makes us look slimmer, same applies to tanned skin. Legs appear more toned and contoured, also masking skin imperfections. As if we needed another reason to want golden-goddess skin. TRY: Urban Decay Naked Skin Bronzing Beauty Balm ($34), Comodynes Self-Tanning Sensitive Skin Natural & Fast Bronzing ($18), L’Oreal Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Lotion ($9), St. Tropez Self Tan Express Bronzing Mousse ($44), Tarte Brazilliance Plus Self-Tanner ($39), Coola Sunless Tan Dry Oil Mist ($46), L’Oreal Sublime Glow Daily Moisturizer Natural Skin Tone Enhancer ($9).

4. Body makeup

Khloè K’s impeccable legs have been looking extra-sexy as of lately, the reality star says her secret is: Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs ($13). Body makeup gives skin glow and sheer coverage, immediately reducing the appearance of discoloration, bruises, spider veins, or to simply give our legs some love. No need to suffer in pants trying to cover up. TRY: Dermablend Leg and Body Makeup ($33), MAC Face and Body Foundation ($29).

5. Contour and highlight

You know how contouring instantly gives us a well-defined jawline and sculpted cheekbones? Well, leg contouring is a thing, and it transforms our chicken legs to those of a lingerie-clad VS model. Watch out Jasmine Tookes. And, no beauty routine would not be complete without highlighter…no we’re not suggesting you use up your Dior glow on those gams, but a shimmery body lotion or body oil adds a sheen that blurs imperfections and makes legs appear smoother, sleeker, sexier. TRY: Say Hello To Sexy Legs Body Contour Stick ($21) and Body Illuminating Fluid ($34), Tom Ford Soleil Blanc Shimmering Body Oil ($100), Nars Monoi Body Glow I ($59), Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Shimmering Body Oil ($45).

With these tips, we’ll be hearing, “Look at those legs!” all summer long.
