NYFW Fall 2012 Nails

So many of the upcoming season’s trends are determined by what walks down the runways. From the clothes the models appear in to the makeup they wear, the trend forecasters are already busy predicting Fall 2012′s must-have designs, looks and colors. The same is true for nails. This past NYFW saw some impossibly chic nail designs. I called upon CND’s runway nail professional, Candice Manacchio, who designed the nails for many of the top shows, to give us her expert take on the biggest trends to come off the runway.

1. Pigmented Gemtones – Rich plums (CND Colour in Plumville) and inky navies (such …

Bangs

According to hair stylist and colorist, Harry Josh (of Gisele fame), this season, bangs are back in a big way (full article here). From his blunt cut on Rose Byrne at the SAG Awards to Taylor Swift’s Grammy debut of the return of her bangs, bangs are everywhere.

I asked Rodney Cutler of Cutler Salons, responsible for some 20 NY F/W fashion week shows to give us some insider tips into the world of bangs. Should you choose to make the cut, here is the information you’ll need to know.

Throwback would be Jessica Chastain’s volumized 1960′s bouffant  Zooey Dechenal’s 60′s volumized, slight lift on the crown, and Nicole Richie’s volunized half-up.

Girlie and effortless hair would be Reese Witherspoon and her slightly messy relaxed curls (she looked better than I’ve seen in a long

SensatioNAIL at-home gel manicures

As you well know, I am head over heels for gel manicures. I’ve been having them done regularly for a year without any damage to my nails and can’t say enough about how much I love them. Lately, I’ve seen “gel-like” products hitting the mass market but wasn’t particularly curious. When I was asked to try out SensatioNail, I was intrigued. The kit included polishes, primer and a LED light, not unlike the Gelish I wear (Shellac and OPI use old fashioned UV) – I couldn’t wait to try it for myself.

Maybe it’s all the time having them done professionally, …
