Trend: Khaki For Fall
Every fall, khaki becomes a must-have color prominent on our radar. Partially because beige tones are sported all over the runways – from clothes to makeup to accessories – and also because it’s a shade that resembles the autumn season: cooler nights, shorter days, changing colors of leaves — you get the picture. But this fall in particular, khaki is making a serious statement. Chanel’s Fall 2013 makeup line, Superstition, takes its inspiration from “khaki tones of eyeshadow, mascara and polish.” And other color lines are following suit.
Celebrity makeup artist Kindra Mann, who has worked with the likes of Vanessa Hudgens, Katharine McPhee, and Rosario Dawson, explains how to wear the khaki trend for fall.
“Khaki is a big color for fall because it emphasizes the warm rich colors that we associate with that time of year and the colors that change in nature. I think that trend-wise khaki and safari always are a staple on the runway and will be a trend that last for years,” says Mann. Another advantage to khaki is that it’s “easy to wear and great on all skin tones. It’s an ideal alternative to traditional browns and offers a lighter effect which is great for day. It’s perfect for to building a smokey eye, if you want to transition it into night then pair a khaki shade with some black liner smudged onto it.”
