Trend: Is Pink The New Blonde?
Celebrities and their hair color. Oy. Mighty hard to keep up. But the latest craze – pink strands – is one that’s fun, festive and fashionable. From Beyonce to Sienna Miller, celebrities are switching up their blonde, gold and raven locks for Crayola shades of pink. In fact, Kelly Osbourne has been rocking lavender locks as of late (not pink, granted, but in the pastel color spectrum). And then there was the rose gold hue that Sienna debuted last week, one of my absolute favorite ways to wear the trend: subtle yet sexy, like a bottle of rose champagne. Or there are the pink ombre tips as seen on a myriad of celebrities like Carrie Underwood, Demi Lovato and Chloe Moretz. Katy Perry has run the pretty-in-pink gamut, changing her strands from pastel to fuchsia. I’m quite keen on Perry’s pink. It seems to suit her complexion (as she is actually a natural blonde, not a raven-haired songstress). Both Nicki Minaj and Beyonce have rocked the hot pink wig (which clearly looks like part of a halloween costume), while Rihanna opted for a messy pink dye job, leaving her dark roots to show through (love this!).
How do we make this rainbow color confection real-life wearable? Try dip-dying your ends into your favorite shade of pink. Or use temporary hair color like Rita Hazan’s Pop Color Temporary Color Spray For Hair, to stay on-trend without the longterm commitment.
