TREND ALERT:
Denim Nails

Chanel is always ahead of the trend, so when they announced that their newest collection of polishes will be denim-inspired, you take note (after all, you do remember Vamp and the trend that catapulted, oui?). Debuting at Fashion’s Night Out on September 8th, Les Jeans de Chanel will represent 3 blue-hues ranging from light denim to indigo to dark.

While I’m not one to wear polish on my nails, I may have to jump on this trend. It’s just so perfect for my everyday uniform of jeans and cashmere! If nails are any indication of fall, I see a ton of blue (and denim) in our fashion forecast too.

Les Jeans de Chanel – a collection of polishes in Blue Rebel, Blue Boy and Coco Blue, created by Peter Philips, Creative Director of CHANEL Makeup and inspired by casual chic denim. $25.00 each (available September 8)

Here are a few other denim-inspired polish colors you can get your nails on immediately:

Dior Vernis ‘Blue Denim’ Nail Lacquer (Nordstrom Exclusive) – shine and sparkle and rich blue pigments. $21.00

M·A·C Jeanius Nail Lacquer – moody blues and indigo ink. $14.00

Sephora by OPI Nail Colour in Skinny Jeans – a turquoise shimmer. $9.50

Deborah Lippmann Nail Lacquer – I Know What Boys Like – a periwinkle blue hue that’s like your favorite pair of dark denim. $16.00 (online only)

Will you be rocking the blue-hue?

And, if so, which polish color?

You can actually make your nails have a real blue-jean look and feel! Prep: Find a cloth that you don’t mind having covered in nail polish. Dampen the cloth and make sure to wring it out really good of water, the more textured the cloth the better. Paint on your basecoat – dry and then apply your first coat of colour. Let it dry. Apply a second coat of colour. Now take that dampened textured cloth and press onto each nail when nails are tacky and almost dry, but definetely not when they’re still wet. VIOLA! You will have a denim look and feel to your nails!
