How To: Organize Your Beauty Space
If you’re a true beauty addict like myself, then there is no such thing as too many products. But how do you organize all of your goods so that they are easy to find and still look presentable in your makeup space (bathroom, vanity, dressing room, or wherever it is that you do your thing).
There’s no time like the present, ladies. New year, new you. De-clutter your beauty products and you are one step closer to organizing your life!
Small spaces (like a NYC bathroom) require creativity.
I like to keep all of the makeup that I actually use in a wicker basket. The basket looks pretty on any counter space and it makes it super easy to glance and grab the correct product. Plus, you have everything you need for your face all in one place. Makes making yourself up super simple and quick.
The bottom of this unit (which I purchased from Bed, Bath and Beyond), stores face products – creams, serums, face masks and scrubs that I may not use on a daily basis, but I definitely use consistently.
I built shelves in my bathroom to hold my post-bath products (above – things like lotions and oils; clearly, I love a variety!). I find it so much easier to use my products when they are out in the open. I like how the packaging for the products is colorful and each one is a different size, it makes the entire shelf look cool and artistic!
I am a HUGE fan of keeping brushes in a glass. It makes it so much easier to spot out the correct one and swiftly grab it. I took the same concept and applied it to cover-ups, eye pencils, and mascaras. I group each category together in it’s own glass. You can really do it with any product that stands up and fits into the cup. Use plain glass cups that you buy at Target.com, or, if you’re feeling a bit adventurous, try to find more ornate ones. These colored glasses are from a shop in Paris. I love how it adds a pop of color to my bathroom and it looks beautiful against the white walls.
I have arranged my perfumes on a vintage table that I bought from an antique store in upstate New York. I find perfume bottles to be a great source of decoration so I’m all about showing them off!
Lastly, my medicine cabinet. These are the products that I use daily (or every other day). The zit creams, deodorants, face washes, makeup removers, etc. I have attempted to organize like products together – i.e. moisturizers are on one shelf, hair products on another. A clean and decluttered medicine cabinet is the MOST important!
