Summer Makeup for a Fierce Face
Memorial Day Weekend is really the unofficial start of summer, and other than spending endless hours at the beach, we’re most excited about our summer beauty game. Warmer weather calls for makeup that stands out, without the baked feeling. Before hitting the bbqs and pool parties, read on for tips on how to put together a fierce summer face with our favorites of summer makeup launches…they’re so good we’re posting #summerready selfies already.
Start with Marc Jacobs Beauty Under(cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer ($44), it’s surprisingly lightweight and refreshing, conditioning skin for a smooth surface. (Oily skin types can skip the primer, you may feel oilier in the sweltering heat)…And ditch heavy foundation for a tinted moisturizer like Clé de Peau Beauté UV Protective Cream Tinted ($85) or a BB cream. Try Smashbox Camera Ready BB Water SPF 30 ($42), a few drops provides a sheer, radiant finish with enough coverage so you can still get away with the confidence of #nomakeup.
Every beauty girl has a Naked palette in their arsenal and the Urban Decay Naked3 Palette ($54) is what summer dreams are made of. A gradient of rose-colored earth tones means we can create shimmery pink eyes for daytime affairs, smokey mauves for nightcaps, and everything in between.
Summer is all about the bronze: Even if we spend most of it binge-watching TV in temp-controlled conditions, we want to look like we just came back from the islands. Mimic sun-kissed skin (sans the damage), with a cream bronzer like Laura Mercier J’adore Le Soleil Sunset Bronzing Crayon ($32), which makes bronzing (and contouring) a breeze and Laura Mercier J’adore Le Soleil Matte Veil Powder ($40), smells like a beach getaway and creates a natural-looking tan. Try Marc Jacobs Beauty O!mega Bronze Coconut Perfect Tan ($49) and remember to use a stippling brush and bronze, the right way.
The all-time favorite Nars Orgasm blush now comes in liquid form and orgasm blush-devotees everywhere, can rejoice. A little goes a long way with the Nars Orgasm Liquid Blush ($30), giving cheekbones that post-orgasm flush, but with a dewier finish perfect for the summer heat. Also try in shade Torrid, a golden-coral tint, for California-girl glam.
2017 is not complete without highlight, our current fave is Marc Jacobs Beauty Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter ($44), a few drops mixed in foundation creates a soft radiance, but we can amp up the glam by applying directly to cheekbones, and anywhere else we want to glow up. Try Laura Mercier J’adore Le Soleil Sunrise Highlighter Crayon ($32) for fool-proof highlight on-the-go.
Coral reigned as the it-girl lip color this spring, and it’s not going away. Coral is a universally flattering shade that screams summer. Nars Orgasm lipstick ($28) is a peachy-pink shade that goes perfect with our orgasm blush. This summer will be a steamy one.
