Spring’s Glossy Eyelid
Spring 2015 gave us glossy lids galore, and this trend shows no signs of slowing down. In fact, spring 2017 is giving us glowy skin and glossy lids separately or together. It’s taking that lit-from-within, nontouring trend one feature further – to our eyelids.
Okay, so the quick fix for a glossy lid isn’t actually about highlighting the region (although this can add to the look), it’s about adding shine. There are several ways to achieve this look, but the simple rule is: Just dab on a bit of gloss and go.
You can use a product specifically made for adding gloss to the eyelid region – and these will likely come in a clear/ sheen formula that instantly add a pop go shine to the lid (similar to how using a clear gloss on lips makes them appear bigger, drawing focus to that feature). We love the bare-yet-glossy lid look. There’s something super sexy-without-trying about it. Rosebud Salve is a great and inexpensive alternative – you can use it on your lids, cheeks, and lips. Dabbing a clear/ sheer gloss on bare lids will give you a natural, earthy glow, but you can also choose to use it over a shadowed eye, as a compliment to your color. Be warned, it will crease, but that’s kind of the vibe. Finally, glossy, pre-colored formulas do exist — and they’re a quick and simple way to combine the glossy trend with your favorite shadow colors, like golds, bronzes, and nudes. However you choose to go about adapting this trend, one thing’s for certain: A glossy lid will give you spring’s most hyped glow — in seconds, so get glossing!
