Five Steps to Glam: Office Holiday Party Prep

It goes without saying that the most challenging part of an office holiday party is avoiding your boss after one too many glasses of champagne. However, many of these celebrations take place right after work.  How’s a girl supposed to look glam after a day sitting under harsh cubicle lights?

Since prepping in the workplace bathroom may be your only option (we expect you won’t exactly want to be hanging out there in a sheet mask), we determined five foolproof steps and the allstar products needed to get you ready in a pinch.

STEP 1: MIST – If you skin looks drab and dull towards the end of the day, consider a mist spray like a shot of espresso for your visage. It immediately hydrates, refreshes, and gives your face a burst of life.

TRY: First Aid Beauty Vitamin Hydrating Mist ($16), Caudalie Beauty Elixir ($18), Herbivore Rose Hibiscus Coconut Hydrating Mist ($16)

STEP 2: CURL LASHES – Even the most perfect curling mascara formula can fall a bit flat after eight plus hours. Since removing your entire eye look and reapplying is time consuming, rely on a trusty eyelash curler to open your eyes and freshen your whole look.

TRY: Surratt Relevée Lash Curler ($30), Milk Makeup Eyelash Curler ($12)

STEP 3: HIGHLIGHT  – When going from day to night, highlighter is of the utmost importance. Tap some on your brow bones, cheekbones, inner eye, and cupids bow to glow in the least tinsel-esque way possible.

TRY: BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Poured Crème ($38), Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette ($62), Sonia Kashuk Chic Luminosity Highlighting Stick ($11)

STEP 4: MAKE EYES GLIMMER – To up the ante on any look, try a swipe of metallic eyeliner close to your lash line.  Better yet, it can be applied directly on top of existing eyeliner (like your work-appropriate black or brown) for extra oomph.

TRY: Tarte Tarteist PRO Eye Jewels Glitter Liner ($24) NYX Cosmetics Glam Liner Aqua Luxe ($5), Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Color ($29)

STEP 5: POP YOUR PUCKER – Although perhaps the oldest trick in the book, it works for a reason.  A red lip is not only festive and holiday appropriate, but also an instant confidence booster. We recommend applying with the light touch of your ring finger for a more lived-in, stain-like result.

TRY: Tatcha Kyoto Red Lipstick ($55), Glossier Generation G in Zip ($18), NARS Velvet Matte Lipstick in Dragon Girl ($26)
