Fashion Friday: The Cable-Knit Sweater

By | fashion | No Comments

Few things say plummeting temps like a cable-knit sweater. This chunky classic fall and winter staple has come a long way from the thick wool and boxy cut of yesteryear. These new cable-knit sweaters are both fashionable and flattering, a difficult feat for winter dressing. They’re also incredibly versatile, able to move effortlessly from cut-offs and boots to a skirt and tights for an evening out. And, of course, the casual-cool of the timeless ensemble of jeans and a cable-knit is a seasonal mainstay.

Also, it should be noted, that this fall’s re-invisioned cable-knit can come complete with cutouts, embroidery, and even embellishments. It’s a whole new era for this classic; an investment piece that’ll last you years.

Keep warm, look fab, and shop our favorite cable-knit sweaters:

Fashion Friday: The Denim Diaries

By | fashion, favorites | No Comments

As fall quickly approaches, denim – specifically jeans – become a basic in our everyday wardrobe. Gone are the days of slinky slip dresses and short shorts. Here to stay — until at least May — is the perfect denim jean. This fall, we’re seeing a myriad of new(ish) styles reemerge – like the cropped flare, distressed denim (i.e. you ran over your jeans with a truck, then put them through a shredder), frayed hems, and, yes, even mom jeans are back in style (although we’re going to opt out of this trend for now). (Almost) anything goes — so get creative with your denim desires.

Here, our favorite dreamy denim designs for fall.

CROPPED
From a cropped straight leg to a flare, distressed to frayed, ankle-grazing (capris) to just below-the-knee, here are the best of cropped denim.

DISTRESSED
A return to the nineties, the more holes, the more hipster the jean. And lest us not forget patchwork denim in this distressed category.

FRAYED
Undone hems are all the rage. Add a few holes, a flare, or a cropped cut, and you’ve got yourself this season’s hottest jean.

Fashion Friday Favorites: Summer Sandals

By | fashion | No Comments

From the outrageous (Tibi’s Jack Feathered Sandals) to the practical (Ancient Greek’s Denim Slides? Yes, please — now), summer’s sandals run the gamut. But what we love most about the casual silhouette is the ability to let our feet breathe — and how nice it is to walk without a heel!

Sure, slides (like these neutral beauties from Soludos) are the simplest option, but lace-ups (like these $39 steals from ASOS) are sexy and rather versatile, easily turning a daytime ensemble into nighttime-appropriate. And then there are the funky, fringed, colorful, and embellished sandals – like Fendi’s colorblock gladiators – that turn even the blandest outfit into a sartorial statement, day or night (or, better yet, day into night). Regardless of which style you choose, one thing’s for sure: Sandals are bound to be your summer wardrobe shoe-of-choice.

Celebrity Street Style: The Bomber Jacket

By | fashion | One Comment

It seems like everywhere you turn, some fashionista is sporting a version of the classic bomber jacket. From Olivia Palermo and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in pretty patterns to Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid in utilitarian shades, these silk and satin casual cover-ups are turning some bland street ensembles into serious street styles.

While part of the country is hot and balmy, other parts considerably cool off come evening: A bomber jacket is the perfect way to add a hint of warmth while still keeping it chill. Make a statement without overdressing. Add yours on top of cut-off shorts or a sexy LBD. Personally, we like to take ours to the beach for sunset and mimosas.

Spring Trends: Statement Jewelry

By | fashion, trends | No Comments

This spring, when it comes to jewelry, our motto is the bigger the better. Stella McCartney was feeling major statement-making jewelry at her fall 2016 show, but autumn is far too long for us to wait for this trend. Instant gratification or bust. Like makeup, jewels are the best way to kick any outfit up a notch.  Although Stella’s creations are certainly cool girl-chic, we were on the hunt for things that are slightly more wearable in our daily lives.  Here are our favorites:

Topshop Multi-row Statement Necklace ($25) – This babe is just calling out for the perfect white tee.

J.Crew Neon Garden Earrings ($75) – Pair these girly and sweet creations with ripped boyfriend jeans and Stan Smiths…haven’t you heard that opposites attract?

Diane von Furstenberg Geometric Necklace ($198) – An outfit maker if we’ve ever seen one.

Urban Outfitters Next Dance Chain Earrings ($15)  – Don’t they make you want to dance?

Alexis Bittar Crystal Parrot Chain Ring ($195) – Don’t forget to get a fresh mani when wearing this beauty…people won’t be able to stop staring at your hands.

Forever21 Kitschy Chic Woven Bracelet ($9) – Festival-ready and then some.

BaubleBar Paleo Cuff Bracelet  ($42) – Although we’re sick of hearing about paleo diets, paleo cuffs are more than acceptable.

#TBT: Supermodels’ White Button-Downs

By | fashion, tbt | No Comments

When Steven Meisel shot this supermodel gang for Vogue Italia in the ‘90s, eye-catching attire was absolutely not needed.  Rather than compete with the beauty of Christy, Amber, Linda, Naomi, et al, a plain white oxford complimented that flawless bone structure.  The result was an incredibly sexy image that was heavy on the bedroom vibes.

Over two decades later, a simple white button-down shirt is still a staple in every woman’s wardrobe. Whether you pair it with boyfriend jeans, classic cigarette dress pants, or even a ball gown skirt, you’ll inevitably wear it time and time again. Even better, many designers are updating this timeless silhouette with mild alterations. Here are our top picks:

Better than stealing from your actual lover, Frame Le Boyfriend Cotton Oxford Shirt ($180) is cut for a woman’s body while still offering the generous fit you covet from their shirts.

You know we love a good monogram, so Marieclaire St John’s customizable DRESSHIRT ($445) is a no-brainer.

The Thomas Mason for J. Crew Strech Shirt ($158) is about as classic as classic can get.

The modern silhouette paired with the side-ties adds a contemporary twist to the Tibi Oxford Dolman Tie Shirt ($275).

All play, zero business: T by Alexander Wang Cotton Oxford Crop Shirt ($250).

Show off your Pilates-whittled waist in the Tome Pique Gathered Waist Shirt ($595).
