DIY: Rosewater and Aloe Vera Spray
~My inspiration for the Rosewater + Aloe Vera Spray comes from my longtime favorite Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs & Rosewater.
What You’ll Need:
A dozen freshly picked organic rose petals
A small funnel
A large stock pot with glass lid
A small glass bowl
Organic Aloe Vera Juice
A spray bottle
Benefits Of The Ingredients:
Rose Oil – One of the finest and most luxurious natural hydrating and anti-aging ingredients. A natural antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and astringent. Chalk-full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants to heals and soothe. Good for all skin types.
Organic Aloe Vera Juice – Contains vitamins B1, B2, B6, and C, as well as niacinamide, choline and 18 amino acids. Is a natural calmer, healer and soother, brightens dull skin.
Place the brick inside of the pot. Make sure to thoroughly clean the rose petals with water (best if roses are bought at a farmer’s market, these are almost always organic – *make sure not to buy any roses that are synthetically dyed!). Sprinkle rose petals around the brick until it fills the sides of the pot, but doesn’t cover the brick. Pour distilled water into the pot, just enough so that it fills up to about 3/4 of the brick. Place the bowl on top of the brick. Invert the lid and put the entire pot on the stove. Let everything come to a boil. Use an inverted glass lid so that you can see when the water boils, precipitation will form on the lid and sprinkle droplets of water into the bowl. This is your rosewater! To speed up the process, you can add cold water or ice to the top of the inverted lid. After about 45 min – 1 hour, depending on the size of your pot and how many rose petals you were able to use, the smell of roses will grow fainter. This is when you know that your rosewater is complete. *Make sure to let the rose water cool before proceeding to the final steps.
Turn off the oven and take the bowl out of the pot. Let it cool while breathing in the glorious scent of pure rosewater. DIY rosewater steam facial, anyone?
To make a 4 oz bottle of spray, add between 1.75-2 oz of rose water diluted with distilled water (depending on how much rose water you were able to make) and 1.75 oz of organic aloe vera juice into the spray bottle by transferring the liquids via the funnel.
Refrigerate for added freshness and a summer facial treat. Will last up to 10 days.
