I recently experienced skincare guru Joanna Vargas’ fall facial – a lovely concoction of hydrating, brightening, and decongesting the complexion. She uses a pumpkin face mask – very season-appropriate – which led me to my latest Do It Yourself post – the DIY pumpkin face mask. Only 3 ingredients and it’s exceptionally easy to create this spa-like enzyme mask at-home.
Not only is it timely (pumpkins are everywhere!), it’s also a great source of natural antioxidants and retinoic acid, both to improve the look and feel of your skin. This mask can be used on all skin types, especially great for those of you who are looking for a quick anti-aging, brightening boost.
What You’ll Need:
2 TSP of Pureed Pumpkin (canned is fine, or use your holiday leftovers)
1/2 TSP Organic Honey
1 TSP Organic Greek Yogurt (fat free for oily skin, 2% for dry skin)
Benefits Of The Ingredients:
Pumpkin – High in antioxidants and Vitamins A, C and E. Natural source of enzymes to slough away dead skin.
Honey – A natural humectant to lock in moisture; contains antibacterial properties that are ideal for acneic skin
Yogurt – Contains enzymes and lactic acid to exfoliate, hydrate and soothe.
Mix all of the ingredients in a bowl and apply to damp skin (post shower of face wash is ideal). The enzymes work better if skin is slightly damp. Leave on for 10 minutes, rinse with a muslin or washcloth. Use once a week (make a new batch for each use!).
Psst: If you prefer milk to yogurt, you can sub that in instead.
Note: A slight tingling is normal. If it’s unbearable, remove the mask immediately!
