It’s been awhile since I’ve posted a DIY, but I think you’ll find the newest DIY to be well worth the wait. Holistic skin care guru Cecilia Wong introduced me to this wonderfully easy – and seasonal – pumpkin cream face scrub. Yes, Halloween is over but pumpkins are still quite popular, due to the prerequisite Thanksgiving pumpkin pie. So, get on this scrub ASAP (especially while pumpkins are being sold on every corner).
Pumpkin on the skin = a youthful complexion. Pumpkin pie in the tummy = a few extra lbs. We’d prefer youth, thank you very much (but that’s because we’re not fans of pumpkin pie. Now Reece’s Peanut Butter Cups? Well, that’s a different story entirely).
What You’ll Need:
2 tsp. of fresh pumpkin – not canned!
1 tsp. of papaya
1 tsp. of honey
1 tsp. of brown rice or raw sugar (think Sugar in the Raw)
Benefits of the Ingredients:
Pumpkin – High in Vitamin A, a natural retinol which is ideal for both acne-prone skin and anti-aging benefits.
Papaya – A natural exfoliant; rich in antioxidants and an enzyme called papain which helps to remove dead skin and clean out pores.
Honey – A natural humectant that locks in moisture; natural antibacterial that absorbs impurities
Brown Rice – An exfoliator and natural anti-inflammatory that leaves skin soft and even
Raw Sugar – An exfoliator that increases cell turnover
Mix all of the ingredients together, apply to skin and exfoliate by massaging in gentle, circular motions for 3-5 min. Rinse with cool water. You can store in the fridge for 3-5 days.
